If you would have told me I would be quitting retail where I am paid at the top of my salary range and homeschooling my son 18 months ago I would have thought you were insane. Over the past year I have worked harder than I ever have in 14 years and I feel the most undervalued. We are told we are hero’s on social media and at the end of emails from upper management... but we are not treated as such. I started researching opportunities for pharmacist outside the retail setting and pharmacogenomics kept appearing. I took the step to start studying to become board certified as an MTM specialist. Last week I finally gave my notice to CVS. It was the most relief I have ever felt. I knew I didn’t want to go through another flu season with no clear plan from management how we are to implement vaccine requirements understaffed. So I did it. I did it afraid. I’m looking forward to learning more along side like minded pharmacists who are ready to break free. Thanks Jamie!
I'm so excited to have a great support group to help me through the pitfalls. I was so worried about the hurtles and am so thank full that there is a community going through the same trials as me.
The PGx Consulting Confidence course helped me open my eyes to more of the possibilities I have with where I would like my business to go. I have had only a vague idea of what I wanted to do and the direction I was aiming to go but this course has opened my eyes and given me a much stronger direction of where I can go with my ideas. The modules are set up to help you maximize your learning as quickly as possible and help you set up your own consulting business in no time. Those who are strapped for time should have no problem getting through the material and learning what they need to to get started. When I first started looking into PGx consulting I found it difficult to find information and felt that many consultants treated that information like a trade secret that shouldn’t be shared. This consulting course was able to answer so many questions I had and even give me resources and helpful tools to get my consulting business off the ground. There is a plethora of knowledge that Jamie is willing to share with others and this is a course that is the first of its kind. I am excited to get my business started and hope to be able to continue to work with Jamie and make this course a valuable tool for pharmacists and future pharmacists for years to come. I truly believe this is one of the many directions pharmacy will be heading in the future and there is no doubt in my mind that there is nothing but growth from here on out.
This course gave me everything I needed and more to build confidence in pursuing a dream career. I pursued this opportunity looking for a way out of a career path where I felt under appreciated, under valued, and underpaid. I am excited for a bright future in PGx. Dr. Wilkey has created a way for pharmacists like me to practice at the top of their degree and license. Dr. Wilkey is passionate about what she does and is devoted to helping others find success and meaningful careers. It has been a pleasure logging in each week soaking in each and every lesson and word of advice. She has put together impressive course materials and learning is a joy with her upbeat and encouraging presentation style. The course is self-paced and catered to various learning styles. I highly recommend this phenomenal opportunity to invest in your future as a pharmacist!
As soon as I started the course, I was immediately caught by the enthusiasm how Dr. Wilkey conveyed the field of applied pharmacogenomics. Before you know it, you have completed a series of units without even realizing it - and immediately begin to soak up the next one. The knowledge is packed into small, easily digestible lessons, and the process is logically structured and engaging. I know only very few courses that manage to offer such a perfect balance between the required theory and its practical application in such an entertaining way - ideal for everyone who is looking for a course that is really practical!
I wanted more from my career, but self limiting beliefs kept me stuck in the same place. Jamie’s course helped me to gain the confidence needed to step out and create work that I love! Building a business in pharmacy was something I wanted to do for a long time. It was very intimidating because I had no idea where to start. This course is the blueprint!
SO EXCITED to get started! I actually was talking to a long time friend/psychologist yesterday and told her that I was planning to start a consulting business and she wants me to meet with ALL of her patients one on one to do a consult for them. She said she recently reached out to an MD friend and begged him to offer this for her patients!
Dr. Jamie Wilkey is a pharmacist who loves what she does and brings passion and happiness to the pharmacy profession.
Jamie grew up in a small town in Wyoming where she got her start in pharmacy working at the local City Drug. She attended the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy for her Doctor of Pharmacy. She was active in student government while at UW and also served as president and later as vice-president of her pharmacy class.
For 10 years post-graduation, Jamie worked in community pharmacy while having and raising her 4 little boys. Frustrated by the stress and schedule of that position created her own job for herself that better suits her talents, her passions, and her family’s busy schedule. She abruptly jumped out of retail and into the world of entrepreneurship and has found her true calling in life. She is the founder & CEO of Arches Health, LLC. She serves patients in her community as a consultant pharmacist focusing on pharmacogenomics. After getting her practice up and running began to empower other pharmacists to do the same. She teaches pharmacists in her online program & active network called PGx Consulting Confidence Academy to confidently champion PGx and create their own consulting practices that bring the flexibility, freedom, and satisfaction they are seeking from their careers. Just this year, she has taught over 110 pharmacists how to change their careers. Dr. Wilkey is a member of CPIC as well as the nonprofit organization GTMR. She has been featured on over 15 podcasts in the past year, on Pharmacy Times, Kajabi, and was recently voted as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Leaders in Pharmacy.
Jamie is optimistic about the future of pharmacy and knows great things are in store for those pharmacists who are willing to push boundaries, to think big, and to use the full extent of their education.
Dr. Matthew Busalacchi believes pharmacogenomics is a key component to the future of pharmacy. He believes pharmacists have an important role in working with practitioners to improve medication usage and outcomes for patients in the community. Matt attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison to pursue his prerequisites for pharmacy school, as well as complete his bachelor’s degree in genetics. He decided to stay in the Midwest and attend the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2016. He continued his passion for individualized medicine and pharmacogenomics by staying up-to-date with CPIC guidelines and taking an elective each semester that enabled him to be involved with pharmacogenomic research. Following graduation, Matt continued his career with CVS Health in California. He knew that his long-term career goal was to work in the field of pharmacogenomics to improve the health of patients, prevent adverse events, and optimize medication regimens. After CVS Health, he continued his career at Kaiser Permanente in inpatient pharmacy. During this next chapter of his career, he discovered the innovative work created by Dr. Jamie Wilkey. The passion that both individuals possessed for pharmacogenomics led Matt to his current role as Vice President of Operations for the PGx Consulting Confidence Academy, as well as developing his own pharmacogenomics consultant career.Learn More
